Our day could be going well from the start. Our routine is set and we have a momentum. We’re feeling accomplished. But then the unthinkable happens. There is a phone call. Or an unexpected visit from the authorities. A news flash on the TV. Our world could feel like it has collapsed in an instant.Tragedy and loss has affected us and we didn’t invite it. We didn’t ask for it but our lives changed in an instant.
The Holy Spirit is perhaps the most misunderstood member of the Triune Godhead. Many believers perceive and or treat Him…
I want to introduce you to my best friend on earth today. I want to introduce you to the Holy…
The Holy Spirit is described in many ways in the Bible—from Breath of the Almighty (Job 33:4) to Eternal Spirit…
As My children, there are desires, there are passions that are yet to be realized as a sure and manifested part of who you are in Me. These desires, these passions spring up in you from knowing Me, spending time in My Presence and being saturated with Me in the glory of who I am.There are times in My Presence in which I intend to overcome you with My desires. It will be Me “watering” those things which I am building in you. There must be times in My Presence where deep calls unto deep, where an opening of the heart takes place, a surrender, so that I might come and take you even further into your life in Me through the very substance of My Presence, through the glory of My Presence working in you what only I can bring. It is My purpose to come to areas of your desires and wash over them with Mine so that more of a yieldedness comes to allow Me to bring forth My will in your life. I desire all-consuming visitations with each one. You will not mistake My glory and what I am asking of you, for My call will be to enter in, to enter into a deeper place in Me for My workings in you. My glory, My Presence, My goodness, many facets of who I am and who I need to be for each one individually is what I intend to bring – the filling of your life and senses with Me.
Much of the Body of Christ today merely thinks about renewal, revival, awakening, and manifestations of God’s power when they think of the Holy Spirit’s function.Although we would all love to speak about revival and renewal in the church, we have to realize that the Holy Spirit has many other significant functions that are vital to both the church and world. Case in point, an often overlooked function of the Holy Spirit in today’s Charismatic Churches is His assignment to bring conviction in the hearts of people. Many preachers are merely trying to encourage, motivate, and inspire their congregation — when often times the Holy Spirit desires to bring conviction to their church because disobedient lifestyle choices block God’s Spirit from freely moving and blessing.
“For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”(Hebrews 4:12)
Have you ever been reading the Bible and have a Scripture “jump off the page” or stand out to you personally? You had been praying and seeking the Lord for an answer, and suddenly, God revealed the answer through His Word.
When you are a believer, the Holy Spirit can “highlight” or bring to mind a verse or verses that speak right into your situation and suddenly those passages resonate in your heart and bring clarity instead of confusion. You may also hear the same verse spoken several times in the span of a day or a week and receive confirmation or a much needed answer. That is a reason that the Bible is called “living and active”. In addition, you may have also read a verse multiple times throughout your life, but when you read it again, the passage now applies to your particular situation and speaks to you directly. The verse(s) “come to life” and bring peace, hope, and encouragement to your heart
When you become a Christian and decide to invite Jesus into your heart, did you know that you are actually inviting Him to come live inside of you? The reality is that you are actually co-dwelling with the presence of God – every moment of your life.On the day of Pentecost after Jesus ascended into Heaven, the disciples were gathered together in one place when all of a sudden the Holy Spirit, Jesus’ promised “Helper”, came like a rushing wind “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.” (Acts 2:4)
This is one of the most asked questions especially from people trying to determine God’s will for their lives. It’s an intriguing question that most millennials want answered. But can you be 100% sure that you have heard God’s voice or not? The answer may surprise you…
“You can’t!” says Christian vlogger, Jon Jorgenson who says there is no exact way for us to know completely that we are hearing the voice of God, however he shares three key resources to help people discern God’s voice more clearly:
1. God’s Word
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Word of God is the light that will guide us on what to do. It is there for us to be reminded about His love and His will for us. When something comes into your mind, always ask yourself if it aligns to God’s Word.
The Bible may not specifically tell you about the exact thing that you need to do in your life, but it is an incredible source of wisdom. Reading the Bible is the perfect way to start searching for God’s voice.
2. Wise mentors, counselors or pastors
“Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” (Proverbs 15:22)
God has provided you with people who can help you in your spiritual journey. People who are much older and wiser than you. People who already experienced and have learnt a great deal in life. People who have wisdom in discerning God’s voice. They may be your counselor, spiritual mentor or pastor.
Go to those people and ask for their guidance. Ask them to pray for you and help you in discerning what to do specifically. God placed them in your life for a purpose. You need to listen to them and humbly accept their correction if there is any.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4: 6-7)
We can humbly come to God and ask Him for discernment and clarity. God is faithful to give us what we pray for. Develop a lifestyle of seeking and talk to God first before doing anything else. Make Him your number one priority. The more you develop your relationship with God, the more you will know His desires for you.
So if you are struggling to recognize God’s voice, never forget to study His Word, listen to your spiritual mentors and most of all check everything in prayer. Watch as Jon Jorgenson profoundly explains further:
